The new album "The Tourist" out on February 24, 2017.
Since their 2005 debut, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have evolved from being an actual band into being just an idea of one. Once a proper quintet, they’ve gradually shed members over the past decade, and after drummer Sean Greenhalgh bailed following 2014’s Only Run, the group was down to one man clapping-lead singer/songwriter Alec Ounsworth. Of course, Ounsworth has been the band’s creative center since the very beginning, and even though he’s released music under his own name, he’s held onto the Clap Your Hands brand-as much for its obfuscating qualities as recognition value. The result is the most consistently satisfying Clap Your Hands album since their debut. Ounsworth’s once-adversarial songwriting smarts and sonic ambitions are more in sync than ever before, and Fridmann’s lustrous mix ranges between the intimate and the epic.
There will be a core group of fans for whom Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are an instrumental and formative band, but they may find themselves feeling more and more alone. Immaculately produced – it is the cleanest Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album yet – and full of Alec Ounsworth’s trademark yowl, ‘The Tourist’ represents only a limited sort of journey.
What could I say? What was I after? I forgot, but you figured it out for me again with your radio silence Who could I've been? Taken a number, taken no more But can I get up to be the tourist? Or am I the pilot? I know, I know, I know, I know better than to think at all A tough-love motherfucker, who was born a clown. The Pilot" Track Info. The Tourist Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
Complete your Clap Your Hands Say Yeah collection. After quite a few listens I'm very pleased with this album, goes back to more classic CYHSY instead of the electronic side like "Always Run". Also great quality in both packaging and record.

The fifth album in the 12 year career of vocalist, songwriter and t Alec Ounsworth, The Tourist was recorded in Philadelphia with a drummer and bassist. Ounsworth and engineer Nick Krill spent months tidying and adding to the sounds before it was mixed by Dave Fridmann. I’d rather not say that it was a dark time, but it was a difficult time in my life - among the most difficult, Ounsworth says . Originally published at Disposable Media.
On August 1, 2013, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah digitally released their EP Little Moments on their Bandcamp page. It consisted of four songs, two of which were to be included in a different form on their forthcoming LP, Only Run. Little Moments featured a new sound for the band that included a heavier reliance on synths and drum machines and fewer guitars. On February 15, 2017, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah released The Tourist. This album has Ounsworth as the only remaining member from the original.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s 2005 self-released debut album set a precedent for how bands might begin to approach making music independently. The record - which r Alec Ounsworth wrote entirely by himself- received widespread critical acclaim and was named one of The 50 Most Important Recordings Of The Decade by NPR. In the ensuing years, Ounsworth has continued pushing himself creatively, releasing three additional Clap Your Hands Say Yeah full-lengths (for which he again wrote all of the music and lyrics) and issuing two solo projects. The Tourist was then mixed by Dave Fridmann, who also worked on two previous Clap Your Hands Say Yeah albums, 2007’s Some Loud Thunder and 2014’s Only Run. Ounsworth says he and Fridmann are on the same musical wavelength, which makes their long-time working relationship an anchor of sorts.
