Tomorrow is a 1987 studio album by South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela.
Hugh Ramapolo Masekela (4 April 1939 – 23 January 2018) was a South African trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, singer and composer who has been described as "the father of South African jazz". Masekela was known for his jazz compositions and for writing well-known anti-apartheid songs such as "Soweto Blues" and "Bring Him Back Home". He also had a number-one US pop hit in 1968 with his version of "Grazing in the Grass".
Album: Hugh Masekela: Greatest Hits, 1999. Hugh Masekela - Bring Him Back Home (Nelson Mandela) from Paul Simon's "Graceland - The African Concert" (Zimbabwe, 1987). Recorded in 1986 for his Tomorrow album, the song and it's wish became a reality when Mandela was released in 1990, and it was played during his many visits to America following his release, as well as on numerous television broadcasts.
Masekela was inspired to write "Bring Him Back Home" in response. In interviews, Masekela has expressed admiration for Mandela, saying "Mandela was the symbol. He was the voice of all people Lyrics. The lyrics of the song visualize Nelson Mandela "walking freely down the streets of South Africa," thus articulating a demand for his release from prison.
