Blind Faith were an English supergroup featuring Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech. The band was eagerly anticipated by the music press as a continuation of Clapton and Baker's former group Cream and Winwood's former group Traffic, but they split after one album and tour. The group originated with informal jamming by Clapton and Winwood in early 1969 following the break-up of Cream and Traffic. Baker joined them in rehearsals and they decided to form a group

London Hyde Park 1969. The band made its debut at a free concert in front of more than 100,000 fans at Hyde Park in London on June 7, 1969. This pivotal event in rock history is preserved in its entirety on the excellent 2006 DVD London Hyde Park 1969. Winwood, Clapton, Baker, and Grech are crowded together on a small stage with little room to move. At times they seem hesitant, while at other times their confidence and heroic technical skills shatter any reservations. All six songs that ended up on Blind Faith are performed.

On Saturday 7 June 1969, Blind Faith played Hyde Park in front of 120,000 people including Mick Jagger and his girlfriend Marianne Faithfull. Jenner had been a lecturer at the London school of Economics, and Blackhill ran their five-person business out of a converted shop just off Ladbroke Grove. Blackhill were principally agents, and it was their acts that gained most from the Hyde Park concerts, which gave them a higher profile than they would have expected from gigging around Britain laying low-key gigs. During 1968, when Blackhill first approached the UK’s Ministry of Public Building and Works about the possibility of staging concerts in Hyde Park they were met with a resounding ‘no’
At last the opportunity to see them "live", as then (1969) I was only 6 years old, and actually didn't get to know them till many years later, on CD. Four geniuses put together in the formidable natural stage of Hyde Park on a beautiful sunny day. Four forces of nature giving it all to the numerous and unusually 60s respectful audience. Highlight: Presence of the Lord: mesmerizing! and the quality of the recording is unbelievable.

He found Clapton's electric guitar on "Can't Find My Way Home" "fascinating" because he played acoustic guitar on that song on Blind Faith. He was also impressed with Winwood's keyboard playing on "Do What You Like" and "Presence of the Lord".
