Woodstock" is a popular song written by Joni Mitchell and included on her 1970 album Ladies of the Canyon. The song was covered by Matthews Southern Comfort and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and has become a counterculture anthem. The lyrics refer to the Woodstock festival of 1969. Joni Mitchell composed the song based on what she had heard from her then-boyfriend Graham Nash about the Woodstock Music and Art Festival.

Woodstock 1969 was a reaction by the youth of its time and the conditions we faced, says Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang. We proved that it is possible to live together in harmony and with compassio. ith only our best selves represented. Woodstock gave people around the world hope, which is why I think it remains relevant today. Explore the history of Woodstock. And come make history with us. Again. Woodstock’s first performer held the crowd for nearly three hours – in part because many artists scheduled to perform were delayed by standstill traffic. Though they started late in the night the way they played their already wildly popular songs demonstrated a band that was at the top of their game.

In August 1994, MCA Records released Jimi Hendrix: Woodstock, a single-disc collection of highlights from Hendrix's legendary closing set at Woodstock. Less than a year later, Al Hendrix won the rights to his son's recordings, and his company, Experience Hendrix, began reissuing definitive masters of Jimi's catalog. King, ‘Live in Cook County Jail’. King was enjoying a career renaissance when he played this Chicago jail in 1970. King’s first album for the Stax label combines his hard, unflashy guitar playing with the sleek sound of the label’s house band, Booker T. and the MG’s. Hits such as Crosscut Saw and Laundromat Blues earned King a new rock & roll audience. Earth, Wind and Fire, ‘That’s the Way of the World’. Before he got into African thumb pianos and otherworldly philosophizing, EWF founder Maurice White was a session drummer at Chess Studios. EWF’s sixth album is make-out music of the gods.
